Fun for all the family at Feile New Year Gathering event

The splendid New Gate Arts Centre in the city’s Fountain Estate was the venue for Saturday’s Free, family-friendly Feile event - The New Year Gathering: Banyan Theatre’s ‘Don’t Let the Bed Bugs Bite’ and an excellent turnout were entertained throughout the afternoon.

The main event featured the city debut of Banyan Theatre’s new show, taking families on a playful journey with dancing bugs, silly spiders and crazy caterpillars all brought to life through puppetry, storytelling and physical theatre.

Children and adults enjoyed a fun and imaginative take on a bedtime story, with some of the young audience joining Karen, Zoe and the wee Granny on a sleepover adventure.

The enjoyable show blended lively storytelling with vibrant puppetry entertaining all in attendance.

This was followed by madcap entertainment from the wonderful and weird Mad Scientist (aka Peter E. Davidson), the fabulous Shabaz, face painting, refreshments and musical entertainment from the up-and-coming local singer-songwriter duo Tessio.

Saturday’s event was part of Féile’s Connect:Interact:Create Programme, funded by The Executive Office’s Central Good Relations Fund.
