Self confessed Derry drug dealer has request to be remanded in custody granted

A self confessed drugs dealer had his request to be remanded in custody granted by a judge at Derry Crown Court today.
Liam Donaghey, 38, from Amelia Court in the Ballymagroarty area of the city made the request to Judge Neil Rafferty KC after he pleaded guilty to a total number of 26 drugs offences.
Donaghey, who was on bail before his Crown Court arraignment arrived in the courtroom with an overnight bag.
After he pleaded guilty to 18 charges of being concerned in supplying cannabis, guilty to three charges of conspiring to transfer criminal property, guilty to three charges of acquiring criminal property, guilty to one charge of possessing criminal property and guilty to one charge of offering to supply cannabis, Judge Rafferty asked Donaghey if he wanted his bail to be revoked.
Donaghey replied: "Yes please, the sooner it's over the better, thank you".
Judge Rafferty told Donaghey that a custodial sentence was inevitable in the case and remanded the defendant in custody until he's sentenced for the offences on February 25.
Donaghey admitted committing the 26 offences on various dates between March 2020 and June 2021.
