Derry man who admitted assaulting partner of 20 years fined

A man who admitted assaulting his partner of 20 years has been fined at Derry Magistrates' Court. 

Peter Gamble (37) of Rockmills in Derry admitted one charge of assault on his former partner on May 19 last year.

The court was told that on that date a verbal altercation occurred over their children and in the course of this Gamble grabbed the woman by the arm and pushed her into a door.

At interview he admitted grabbing her by the arm.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley described it as 'an exceptional case' and said the relationship was now over.

He said that the defendant had a record but nothing of this nature.

Gamble was fined £200 and a Restraining Order was imposed for a period of two years.
