A 35-year-old man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman, occasioning her actual bodily harm, on January 15, 2022 has been told by a judge at Derry Crown Court to prepare himself for a jail sentence when he's sentenced for the offence next month.
At his re-arraignment before Judge Neil Rafferty KC Raymond Lishman from Dunvale Close in the city admitted a charge he'd originally denied.
Defence barrister Stephen Mooney told the court that Lishman was currently serving a four and a half year jail term for another offence and that his due release date of next March was now unlikely to be met as a result of his current offence.
Judge Rafferty told Lishman, "I can tell you now the overwhelming likelihood is your current sentence will be increased", before he set a sentencing date for November 7.
