Derry Magistrate's Court
A woman has been jailed on a number of charges of assault and disorderly behavior after appearing at Derry Magistrates Court.
Amanda Hegarty (37) of Kinsale Park in Derry was charged with, on February 18 this year, disorderly behavior and assaulting a member of staff in Altnagelvin Hospital.
She was also charged with, on July 14 this year, stealing and damaging the bank card of a woman as well as assaulting her and two others.
Finally, she was charged with two other counts of assault on January 10 this year.
The court heard that the defendant had been brought to Altnagelvin Hospital on February 18 and while there had become abusive to staff.
The other offences involved disputes with other women during which Hegarty had taken a bank card.
Defense Barrister Stephen Chapman told the court that Hegarty has a number of mental health issues and has been in custody for some time while awaiting trial.
Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said that Hegarty had committed a 'serious spate of offences', sentencing her to seven months in custody.
