Surprise 24C sun blast in latest Ireland weather forecast before major twist

Ireland could be hit by a brief 24C blast of sun towards the end of this week, according to one forecaster.

Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel made the prediction on Tuesday when he said: "There’s a chance that temperatures will spike tomorrow afternoon and for much of Friday in parts of the east and southeast of the country where sunnier skies are forecast.

"The sudden increase in temperatures is due to an area of low pressure to the northwest of Ireland and high pressure to the southeast adverting warm air northwards from a sub tropical source."

However, there is a twist for some as "not all areas will see sunshine and warmer temperatures."

"The main focus for the warmer temperatures is through much of Leinster and east Munster. Highs here may reach up to 24 degrees," Cathal explained.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann too forecast a sudden upsurge in temperatures but also make a brutal prediction for the weekend.

Their latest forecast predicts "sunny spells early" on Wednesday, "but becoming cloudier from the west with scattered outbreaks of light rain and drizzle developing mainly along Atlantic coasts. The rain and drizzle becoming more persistent long Atlantic coastal counties by evening time. Many eastern areas will stay fully dry with sunny spells. Humid with highs of 17 to 21 or 22 degrees. Southerly breezes light or moderate in strength but strong along Atlantic coasts.

"Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading from the west overnight. Mild with temperatures not falling 13 to 15 degrees, in light to moderate southerly breezes."

For Thursday, they say: "Scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle clearing from the west through the day with spells of sunshine developing. Mostly dry conditions developing though the evening. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, warmest in the south, in light westerly breezes.

"Mostly dry overnight with clear spells [Thursday night]. Cloud increasing in the northwest towards dawn with light or drizzle developing. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, with light southerly winds backing southerly towards morning.

"A mostly dry day with sunny spells and scattered cloud [on Friday]. Quite warm in sunshine with highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees, with light to moderate southwesterly breezes."

Beyond that, though, there is bad news as Met Éireann's latest forecast concludes: "Current indications suggest that Saturday will have rain develop in the west early on and gradually spread eastwards through the day. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees, with moderate to fresh southerly winds, veering westerly with the rain."
