The Mayor of Derry and Strabane, Councillor Lilian Barr, is delighted to announce that her Tea Dance series will kick off with its first event this September.
The Tea Dances are a staple of the First Citizen’s year in office and are an opportunity for the Mayor to meet members of the public and enjoy a chat and dance over a cup of tea or coffee and a sweet treat.
The first Tea Dance will take place on September 11th, and events will run throughout the year, with more details to be issued before the end of the summer about planned themes and entertainment.
“I’m really excited for this year’s Tea Dances,” said Councillor Barr. “It’s a great opportunity for me to meet with members of the public, to learn more about the issues that are important to them and enjoy some refreshments and live music.
“Inclusion is something that I want to promote throughout my time as Mayor, I don’t want any individual or group to feel isolated.
"During my year in office I want to reach out to as many people as possible, and add an extra dimension to the dances by looking at some new ideas and themes to make the events even more enjoyable.
“I’d love to see you all there, so please get in touch with my office now to register your interest ahead of the first event in September.”
Anyone hoping to attend on September 11th must register their details by contacting the Mayor’s office on 028 71 376527 or e-mailing mayor@derrystrabane.com
A new registration list for the Mayor’s Tea Dance is being compiled by the Mayor’s Office so anyone attending the first dance will have the opportunity to sign up on the day for invitations to future events.
