Derry Court
A man who has been recalled to prison on foot of a life sentence licence has pleaded guilty to a series of drug charges at Derry Crown Court.
Gavin Maguire (40) with an address at Springfield Road in Belfast appeared by videolink from Maghaberry Prison today.
Counsel had asked for him to be re-arraigned and Maguire pleaded guilty to 11 charges including being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis, transferring criminal property and possessing criminal property namely more than £22,000 in cash.
All of the offences were said to have occurred on dates between December 2019 and September 2021.
The court heard that Maguire had been recalled to prison on a life licence.
Judge Neil Rafferty KC said that a pre-sentence report would not be required as probation was not an option in thus case.
He told the defendant that he would sentence him for the offences to at least give him 'an idea of finality' in the case although it was unlikely that he was going anywhere for some time to come.
Maguire will be sentenced on July 5.
The defendant was jailed for life in 2007 for the murder of his cousin in February 2006.
