Derry motorists advised to anticipate some impact on traffic due to weekend events

A number of events are planned in the city this bank holiday weekend

TRAFFIC ALERT: Delays on the N25 Waterford road

Motorists and members of the public are advised by police to anticipate some disruption to traffic in Derry this bank holiday weekend due to a number of events planned in the city.

A Supercar event is scheduled to take place in the city tomorrow, Saturday, 25th May.

The outward route will be from 11.30am, from Pennyburn Industrial Estate, Pennyburn Pass, Buncrana Road, Pennyburn roundabout, Strand Road, Queens Quay, Harbour Square roundabout, Custom House Street and into Guildhall Square.

The return parade will be at 4.00pm until around 4.30pm, from Guildhall Square onto Shipquay Street, towards The Diamond, down Shipquay Street and then left onto Foyle Embankment, Harbour Square roundabout, country-bound along Foyle Embankment, John Street roundabout, Foyle Embankment city bound, Harbour Square roundabout and dispersing at the City Hotel.

Meanwhile, in the Waterside area of the city there may be some increased traffic between Friday, 24th May to Sunday, 26th May due to the Connected Festival being held in St Columb’s Park.

Areas where there may be disruption include Limavady Road and Browning Drive. Drivers are advised to please leave extra time for their journey.

Also, tomorrow (Saturday, 25th May), drivers and the public are advised of a planned Apprentice Boys of Derry Baker Parent Club parade in the Waterside.

Participants will assemble at 10:30am, before moving off at 11.00am from Bond Street, along Glendermott Road, Clooney Terrace, Spencer Road, Craigavon Bridge (top deck), Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street, The Diamond, Bishop Street, Stable Lane, the City Walls, Magazine Street and dispersing at First Derry Presbyterian Church for a service at 12noon. There is no return parade.

There are  this weekend which may have an impact on traffic at times. If you’re out and about, and on the roads, please drive with care. We’ll be on duty to assist with any traffic issues.
