Derry Crown Court
A man has been banned from County Derry and order to report daily to police after breaching bail conditions that had been set on Monday.
Robert Doyle (30) of Queen Square in Belfast initially appeared in Derry Magistrates Court on April 14, being released on bail with a restraining order in place relating to his brother and conditions that he not enter the city and abstain from alcohol.
Doyle was again arrested on April 18 after police were called by his brother. Who said that the defendant was banging on his windows.
Police found him hiding under a bed in Rockmills a hundred yards or so from his brother's address.
He was said to be clearly intoxicated and he was arrested for breaching his restraining order.
A police officer told the court that Doyle should have 'miles away' instead of hundreds of yards.
Defence Barrister Sinead Rogan said that Doyle had only returned to Derry to pick up a prescription and, while there, went to see his girlfriend in Rockmills.
She added that he didn't have a phone to inform police or his solicitor about this beforehand.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes banned Doyle from entering County Derry, ordering him to report to police in Belfast every day, warning that if he misses a single day he will be arrested.
He will appear again on May 15.
