Derry Council course aims to help woman manage menopause symptoms

The 8 week Peri and Post Menopause course will be held at Templemore Sports Complex

Derry City and Strabane District Council are offering a new course which aims to help local woman manage the symptoms of menopause through exercise and nutrition.

The Peri and Post Menopause course at Templemore Sports Complex is an 8 week course aimed at women aged between around 45 and 65.

It will be held weekly from Wednesday February 28th from 7.30pm to 9pm and will be hosted by Phylistic Therapist Shauna Mullan who encouraged women to act now to seal their place as numbers are limited to 15 people.

“The menopause can feel like a big change physically and mentally for many woman and it’s important to give yourself the time and space you need to work through these changes.

“It can be difficult to find time for yourself when you are juggling a busy life, working and supporting family members, friends or children.

“The course aims to allow women to take some time each week to focus on yourself and learn more about how you can empower yourself to age healthily through the menopause and beyond.”

The sessions will include information sessions with health care professionals and introductions to physical exercise and breathing exercises.

The course is part funded by Council’s Sports Development Department and includes a fee of £25 for the eight weeks.
