Twelve-year-old girl charged with breaching bail given 'last chance' at Derry court

A twelve-year-old girl has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with breaching bail.

The girl, who cannot be named due to her age, appeared charged with assault and attempted criminal damage in the children's home she was living in.

The victim was a member of the staff in the home.

Police objected to bail as they believed that there was a risk of reoffending.

Defence Barrister Graine McAnaney told the court that it was a 'technical assault' and that police were at the home to deal with a different child.

She also asked the court to consider her age and told that the home was happy to have her back there.

District Judge Oonagh Mullan granted bail but warned that this was her 'last chance'.
