Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

A man and a woman have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of drug charges.

The pair, who cannot be named as they were granted anonymity due to the general threat existing in the city appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today. They were charged with the offences that occurred in May 2020.

The man was charged with a total of thirteen offences and the woman with nine.

Both sets of charges included possession and supply of a number of drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, as well as obstruction of police.

It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Neither chose to submit any written statements or to call any witnesses at this stage. 

The pair were returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on January 10.
