Suspended sentence for Derry man who pushed police officer

A man who pushed a police officer has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Stephen Francis Kennedy (56) of Leafair Park in Derry admitted charges of assault on police and resisting police on September 19.

The court heard that police attended the address and the defendant answered the door 'with aggression'.

He proceeded topusha police woman in the chest and tried to push police officers away.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said that the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning and was simply 'a fracas'.

District Judge Ted Magill said that Kennedy had pushed a police officer.

He imposed a sentence of 2 months suspended for 12 months.
