Derry Court
An accountant will go on trial at a later date at Derry Crown Court on a series of financial fraud charges.
James Heaney (54) of St Michael's Close in Finchley in London appeared today at Derry Crown Court to be arraigned on six charges.
He was charged with defrauding the public purse by under reporting income tax, VAT and corporation on dates between April 6 2013 and November 19 2020.
He was further charged with fraudulently claiming tax credits on dates between April 6 2013 and April 5 2019 and conspiring to supply an article for use in fraud on dates between July 31 2016 and November 30 2018.
Heaney was also charged with possessing articles for use in fraud namely a false P60 and false bank statements on November 29 2018.
Finally he was charged with fraud by false representation by submitting a fake tax return on May 22 2014.
When all the charges were put to him Heaney replied not guilty.
The court heard that a report of a forensic accountant was required and the case was adjourned until November 23 to assess progress.
Heaney was released on continuing bail to appear again on that date.
