A Derry Judge has said that a "custodial sentence is possible" for a woman after a campaign of harrassment against her ex-partner.
District Judge Barney McElholm made his comments in the case of Sonia McCrossan (51) of Brookdale Park in Derry, who was charged with multiple counts of online harrassment of her ex-partner.
McCrossan a charges of harassment, two charges of abuse of the telecommunications network and one charge of threats to kill and all of the charges occurred on dates between October 6 2021 and October 22 2021.
The court heard that McCrossan used a false account to call the man a "pedo b*****d" and threatened to kill him.
The court heard how McCrossan later made a full admission when interviewed claimed that she had been "upset and angry" with her former partner.
Judge McElhom said that in these days of social media such allegations were extremely dangerous and could lead to some people deciding to take the law into their own hands.
He adjourned the case to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared but did not rule out a custodial sentence.
