Derry Court: 22-year-old man released on condition he does not contact his father

A man has been released on bail on condition he does not contact his father after he appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with assaulting the man and a charge of criminal damage.

Dillon Harkin (22) with an address at Glenbank Gardens in Derry was charged with the two offences that were said to have occurred on June 9.

He was also charged with possessing cannabis on June 17.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges and said bail was agreed subject to conditions.

He was bailed subject to a curfew and tag, not to enter the Creggan area of the city and to have no contact with his father the victim of the alleged assault. 

The case was adjourned until July 17.
