Derry Court: Man charged with assaulting his mother bailed on bail breach

Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

Derry Magistrates Court

Derry Magistrate's Court today released a man charged with assaulting his mother after he appeared for breaching his bail.

Richard Bowers (33) of no fixed abode is charged with assaulting his mother who is now deceased in March this year.

The court heard that Bowers had lost a bail address he was to reside at.

A police officer told the court that police were not opposing bail with certain conditions.

Those conditions were that Bowers was to reside at an address approved by the PSNI, he was not to enter Derry, he was to observe a curfew from 11pm until 6am and be electronically tagged.

He was also ordered to provide the phone number of his phone to police.

Bail was agreed and Bowers will appear again later this month.
