A man who appeared in court on Saturday morning and was released on bail was arrested again some seven hours later Derry Magistrate's Court heard today.
Robert Norton (39) of no fixed abode appeared charged in connection with an incident at a local hotel and assaulting police.
The court heard that Norton went in to the Holiday Inn Express to use the toilet and was told it was customers only.
Norton was said to have 'taken umbrage' at this and assaulted the manager.
When police arrived the court heard he resisted and spat in an officer's face.
The police officer said that the defendant had been released from court that morning and was arrested again seven hours later.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client had 'a limited record'.
He said that the manager and his client obviously 'did not see eye to eye and one thing led to another.'
Norton was released on bail to an address pre-approved by the PSNI and will appear again on June 29.
