Derry Court: Suspended sentence for man who stole football cards

Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

A man has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate's Court today for stealing football cards from a local supermarket.

Lee Francis Sheppard (32) of Northland Road in Derry admitted two charges of burglary and two of theft that occurred on December 24 and December 30 last year.

He admitted stealing a vacuum cleaner from Sainsbury's on December 24 and stealing the football cards and stickers on December 30.

District Judge Barney McElholm said that Sheppard had 'an extremely bad record' and imposed a sentence of 6 months suspended for 2 years.
