Derry's Lisa McGee scoops 'Best Script Drama' at IFTA Awards

Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee scooped another award at Sunday night's 20th Anniversary Irish Film and Television Academy Awards 2023 ceremony at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre. 

Marking an incredible year for the Irish screen industry Lisa won the award for Best Script Drama for The Agreement Extended Special.

The awards and accolades keep on coming for the hit Channel 4 show Derry Girls for the third and final season which aired last year.

At the recent Royal Television Society Programme Awards Lisa McGee's Derry Girls won two of the categories -Scripted Comedy and Writer - Comedy. 

The comedy, which follows a group of teenagers growing up in Derry during the Troubles, also picked up the award for Best Writer of a comedy at the recent BAFTA Television Craft Awards 2023 for creator and Derry native, Lisa McGee.

The series finale is also nominated for the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award, the only Bafta decided by public vote, which takes place on Sunday, May 14.

The Derry Girls finale covers the voting process for the Good Friday agreement through the characters we laughed and cried with for three incredible seasons.

Lisa’s hit Channel 4 show has well and ruly placed Derry on the map for all the right reasons.
