Alliance Party candidate - Philip McKinney
Philip McKinney is standing for the Alliance Party in Derry's Waterside Ward in the upcoming Local Government Elections on May 18.
Elected a councillor for Waterside in 2019, Philip has lived in Derry for 19 years.
His employment background is in Logistics and he has had roles from HGV and bus driver, to Training Manager.
He is acutely aware of Road Safety and Infrastructure and works steadily at these issues .
A former Shop Steward in two different workplaces, he knows full well the importance of good industrial relations and of workers rights.
After witnessing the impact of the Troubles on his own family, and studying the disastrous descent into war in former Yugoslavia, Philip is a passionate believer in a united community. He wants us to move away from simple Orange Green politics so that our community can reach its proper potential for everyone.
“People need cash in their pockets”, says Philip. “We’ve had years of austerity and stagnant wages. School leavers need jobs. And our housing waiting lists are growing longer”.
Cash and Jobs and Housing are his target priorities. “People are having chronic problems”.
