Derry Court: Man returned to Crown Court on series of domestic abuse charges

Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of domestic abuse charges.

Aaron Deery (42) of Clarendon Street in Derry appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today.

He is charged with criminal damage to make up belonging to a female on a date between March 26 and March 28 last year. 

He is also charged with assaulting the same woman on April 3, attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on the woman on April 5 and wounding with intent to do GBH on the same woman on April 6.

Deery is also charged with engaging in a course of action that could be seen as domestic abuse on dates between March 1 and April 9 last year. 

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

Deery said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on May 17 and released on bail.
