B69 Baranailt Road near Claudy where resurfacing work is to begin this Monday.
SDLP Faughan Representative Hayley Canning has welcomed the announcement of a £203,000 road improvement scheme on the B69 Baranailt Road near Claudy.
The works are due to commence this Monday (13 March) near the junction with Slaughtmanus Road and continue northeastwards for a distance of 970 metres and scheduled to last for three weeks.
Commenting, Ms. Canning said: “It is very welcome news that this scheme to improve the Baranailt Road will finally come to fruition.
"I know local people felt very strongly that this scheme has been sorely needed, not least to improve the safety of the road for everyone who uses it.
"Rural road users will be well aware of the often precarious nature of this road that is frequently used by local commuters and it is good news that measures will now be taken to address this.
“Unfortunately, this scheme will cause some traffic disruption while the work is carried out over a three-week period, but I hope the works will be warmly welcomed by the locals and nearby Claudy residents once complete.”
