Derry Court: Suspended sentence for woman after argument that 'out out of hand' with former partner

Derry's Bishop Street court house.

A woman who kicked her former partner on the shin and damaged a door has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Lisa Marie Sheriffs (32) of Duddy's Court in Derry admitted assault, resisting police and criminal damage that occurred on March 7.

The court heard that police were called at 4.30am to a report from a man that his former partner had broken glass on his door and kucked him on the shin 'multiple times'.

When police arrived Sheriffs shouted loudly and was warned about her behaviour but persisted.

As police were leading her away she tried to run back up the stairs.

Defence counsel Grainne McAneney said her client had 'difficulties'.

She said she had no record and the incident was an argument that 'out out of hand'.

Sheriffs was sentenced to 2 months in prison suspended for 12 months.
