A woman who was verbally abusive to police in Altnagelvin Hospital has been jailed at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Hannah Duddy (28) of Spencer Road in Derry admitted two charges of disorderly behaviour on December 15 last.

The court heard that Duddy was taken to the hospital and while there was 'extremely abusive and confrontational' towards police in front of patients and staff.

After being treated she continued to be abusive and was warned to moderate her behaviour but persisted.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that this was not good behaviour but especially in a hospital setting.

He said in his client's favour most of the behaviour occurred in the police vehicle and it never went beyond verbal abuse.

Duddy was jailed for 2 months.
