Derry Court: Tyrone man accused of assault on woman released on bail

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on assault and criminal damage charges.

Rory Gallagher (27) of The Linen Green, Sion Mills appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

He is charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to a woman on July 29 last year.

He is also charged with criminal damage to items belonging to the same woman and assaulting her occasioning actual bodily harm on the same date.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Gallagher said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on March 29 and released on bail.
