Derry Court: Strabane pair returned for trial on drug charges

A man and a woman from Strabane have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of drug charges.

Declan Coyle (39) of Lisnafin Park and Orla McIlroy (30) of Belldoo both in Strabane appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Coyle faces a series of charges including possessing class B drugs with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and transferring criminal property.

All of the offences were said to have occurred on dates between July 3 2019 and February 17 2022.

McIlroy faced three charges of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis on dates between August 1 2017 and August 4 2020.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Neither defendant said that they wanted to say anything or make any statement at this stage.

They were returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on March 23 with Coyle in custody and McIlroy on bail.
