The preliminary enquiry that was due to be held today on a man charged with the murder of a young woman has been postponed.

Jonathan Cresswell (35) of Briar Hill Gardens in Greysteel in County Derry faces one charge of the murder of Katie Simpson on August 3 2020.

At his last appearance a date had been set for a PE to take place today February 23.

This date was set after District Judge Barney McElholm had said that if no date was set he was going to impose one.

At today's hearing the court heard that there was 'a difficulty with the PE' and it would not be going ahead.

Defence counsel Eoghan Devlin asked that the case could be put back so that Judge McElholm could hear the issues.

The case was adjourned until March 1 Creswell is on bail.
