Derry Magistrate's Court

A woman who a court heard 'was not in a good place' at the time has been fined for stealing items from Home Bargains.

Naomi Owens (27) with an address at Meelmore Drive in Omagh admitted stealing goods valued at £20 from the store on October 18.

The court heard that a male and female, the defendant, were seen entering the store around 8.30pm on the date in question.

Owens had a bag but the court heard that the man 'took control of the bag'.

They were seen placing several items in the bag and leaving without paying and departing in a car.

The defendant was identified from CCTV and when arrested said she could not remember the incident.

A defence solicitor said his client regretted what had happened and had made full admissions to police.

She was fined £250 and ordered to pay £20 in compensation.
