Toomebridge firm, SDC Trailers has secured a £10 million order from trailer rental company, Hireco Ltd.

The new contract, which means Hireco will have purchased more than 5,000 trailers from SDC Trailers, will see trailers manufactured across SDC's engineering facilities at Toomebridge, Antrim and Mansfield over the next six months.

 The company has created 170 new posts in the last year, and is expected to increase its turnover to £150million by the end of 2015.

SDLP MLA Patsy McGlone, who chairs the Assembly’s enterprise committee, has welcomed the news saying: “This is welcome news for SDC Trailers and for the local economy. SDC is clearly a successful company creating much needed jobs.

 “This new contract, which extends their relationship with Hireco, should help secure those jobs. This is a vote of confidence in everyone involved with the company, from workforce to management.

 “I also welcome the news that SDC Trailers expects to continue to prosper in the years ahead. Their investment in local people has been rewarded, and the local economy will benefit from their success.”
