A County Derry nurse is set to publish her second book in the coming weeks.
Catherine Farren’s newest book ‘Retreat, Breathe and Rise Again’ follows on from her highly popular first book of poetry, ‘Retreat and Breathe’.
The Limavady woman published her five star rated first collection in 2025 - a book containing 55 inspirational poems.
Now, Catherine, who has worked as a nurse for almost 36 years, is excited to publish her second book, with Oakleaf Press Publishing, owned and run by Irish Best Selling Author, Jane Buckley.
“Having a best selling author as my publisher has been amazing, Jane is so supportive and just wonderful to work with,” said Catherine.
Catherine’s writing comes from the heart and explores many of life’s challenges such as grief, healing, hope, self-worth and resilience. At its core, her poetry is about helping people to feel seen and reminding us that there is often far more that connects us in this life, than separates us.
Catherine also draws inspiration from the beauty of the landscape and the everyday moments unfolding around her.

With a career in Nursing, spanning more than three decades, along with her own personal life experiences, Catherine brings a deep well of understanding and insight to her writing.
International bestselling Irish author Emma Heatherington has also written a foreword for Catherine’s new book, something which she feels honoured about.
“I am honoured and privileged to have International Best selling Author and Irish Times Best seller, Emma Heatherington write the foreword for this book,” she continued.
“Emma is the most inspirational woman, I am so grateful to her for writing this as I know how busy she is.”
In her foreword, Emma said Catherine’s collection of over 120 short poems are ‘little pockets of comfort, written from the heart, to warm your soul’.
“In this book, ‘Retreat, Breathe and Rise Again,’ you’ll find verses to ease the pain of grieving for a lost loved one, you’ll find words to help you start your day, and you’ll find heart-lifting wisdom to pick you up when you need it,” Emma wrote.
“‘Retreat, Breathe and Rise Again’ is like a warm hug from a familiar friend.
“Huge congratulations Catherine on this, your second poetry book. I have no doubt your carefully chosen, heartfelt collection will bring comfort and joy to all who are lucky enough to welcome your words into their hearts and minds.”
‘Retreat, Breathe and Rise Again’ will be released on July 9 with a book launch set for the same date in the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Limavady.
Catherine is currently working on her third collection of poetry and a screenplay.
