Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £200,000 major resurfacing scheme at A6 Glenshane Road near the village of Curran, Magherafelt in the next three weeks.

Preliminary work is due to get underway from June 9.

The work is expected to last for two weeks on the 400 metre stretch of road.

The Minister said: “This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway at these junctions on this important Euro Route between Belfast and Derry.”

To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses, the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using a ‘Follow-me’ traffic control system which reduces the traffic to alternating one way at a reduced speed of 20mph.

During the works two-way traffic flow will be maintained.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
