The inclusion of Nixon’s Corner/Killea on outskirts in Derry in Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Rural Development Strategy is “good news” for the area, Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has said.
Cllr Logue (pictured) said she was “pleased” the strategy had been approved by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).
She said the four year project and meant the Killea/Nixon’s Corner area could now avail of funding opportunities.
Cllr Logue said: “There are four headings under which funding can be applied for including Rural Business Investment, Basic services, rural village renewal and rural broadband.
“There is also scope for cooperation projects North/South applications – Killea/Nixon’s Corner.”
Cllr Logue concluded: “It’s important now that we build on this and explore all avenues to get investment into this area.”
