Derry make-up artist, Charlotte Ingham, took home the NI B-Beautiful Award for best MUA in County Derry at the AB Events first ever awards for the Hair and Beauty Industry.
Charlotte came second in the whole county during the eight week voting system used to narrow the thousands of entries down to the top seven in every category.
She then attended the live practical finals day at Savvy and Shine where Charlotte had to perform a black tie makeup look on a model of her choice.
Charlotte came out on top with the highest three scorecard average to win the Best Makeup Artist in the County
Three well known industry judges walked the room and scored everyone at the same time with Charlotte coming out on top with the highest three scorecard average to win the Best Makeup Artist in the County.
With an average score of 93.5 out of 100, judge Leslie Magee, representing Girl Boss Academy HQ, said, “Charlotte created a gorgeous, creative look on her model with excellent application and an outstanding blend of the makeup that more than matched the black tie theme."
Charlotte was Leslie's only full marks score card in the whole judging process.
Gemma Garrett of Buella Life also judged Charlotte and said, "It was very hard to fault the technique and color matching to the skin tone of her model. Plus her customer service was fantastic; a worthy winner."
After the awards Charlotte said she was delighted to be a finalist and was overcome with joy and gratitude.
"There is so much talent in this city so to actually win the award was the greatest feeling in the world. I'm so grateful," she said.
Charlotte said to be awarded the title based on people voting for her without knowing is "the best feeling in the world"
"I found out I was nominated through a Facebook post, which my business page was tagged in. I had absolutely no idea until then. I was shocked and so excited."
Charlotte said she was nervous for the practical finals as there was so much amazing talent in the room. However, the nerves quickly settled, "When I started the practical it felt amazing, as I love what I do," Charlotte said.
Charlotte says she still can't believe she won, "It's such an achievement. I never thought I would ever win," Charlotte continued. "I'm extremely grateful to all my clients and anyone who supports me. Without them this is not possible."
Now that Charlotte has scooped the regional award, she is now setting her sights on the national awards. The Irish Makeup awards recently released their finalists, which covers the entire island. Charlotte found out she is nominated for another two awards. "It is just incredible, I honestly can't believe it," she added.
Charlotte has worked in the industry since she was around 18 years old and was working with different makeup brands such as MAC. She then started her own business when she was 24 years old. This is Charlotte's first ever award and she said to be awarded this based on a public vote is truly amazing, "I've actually never personally entered my work. I used to encourage people to vote prior to COVID but I just gave up on it then.
"So, to be awarded this title based on people voting for me without knowing is the best feeling in the world. I've never won any awards so this really is a dream come true."
