Members of the EYF Young Mens volunteer to help out with the Switch On Event.
Last weekend saw the Strathfoyle Christmas tree light switch on with the special help of Santa, Mr. Grinch and Deputy Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Angela Dobbins.
The organisers paid thanks to everyone who helped in anyway to make the event such a success.
A spokesperson said: “Thanks to Stephen and Kevin from 'Rewind Entertainment' for providing the Christmas music and to all the volunteers and local groups for making it happen.
“The event would not have been possible without the assistance provided by all at Enagh Youth Forum, Strathfoyle Community Association and Strathfoyle Youth Centre, plus a special thanks to the children, staff and volunteers at Strathfoyle Women's Activity Group, Tiny Tots Community Play Group and Strathfoyle Nursery School for making amazing decorations for the tree.
“Big thanks also to Apex Housing & The National Lottery Community Fund for funding & supporting this event!”
Michaela Doherty, Chairperson Enagh Youth Forum, said: "Events like these are important. They bring people together and help create some community spirit and Christmas magic in what are very challenging times for everyone."
Following the success of the event, Alex Duffy, Chairperson Strathfoyle Community Association, said: “Tonight was a brilliant event here in Strathfoyle, helping to bring about much needed Christmas cheer.

“It's great to have all the local groups coming together to help create some Christmas magic.
“It builds on what was a fantastic senior citizens 'Christmas Dinner Dance' which took place on Friday night.

“Next up, we will hold our annual Christmas Craft Fair on 12th December from 6.00pm – 9.00pm at Strathfoyle Youth Centre and the Annual Christmas Party which will take place on December 14th from 4.00pm – 6.00pm also at Strathfoyle Youth Centre. All Welcome!"
