NIAS 'saddened' by death of popular former Derry colleague Seamus McAllister

NIAS pay tribute to popular former Derry colleague Seamus McAllister

Seamus passed away peacefully on Saturday morning following a short illness.

There was widespread sadness across the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) and beyond at the passing of their friend and former colleague Seamus McAllister.

The popular Derry man, who recently retired, was a former Divisional Training Officer and Clinical Training Manager for NIAS.

Leading the tributes in a social medai post, the NIAS said: "Staff across NIAS have learned, with great sadness, of the passing of friend and colleague Seamus McAllister.

"Seamus had a long and distinguished career in the Ambulance Service serving in many roles but particularly as Divisional Training Officer and Clinical Training Manager.

"Seamus passed away peacefully on Saturday morning following a short illness. Seamus was a hugely popular and well respected member of the NIAS family.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

Seamus's funeral from his home, 22 Cashelmore Park, takes place today (Monday) at 10.30am for 11o’clock Requiem Mass in St Eugene’s Cathedral, followed by interment afterwards in the City cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Fiona, daughters Sarah and Anna, son-in-laws Richard and Sean, grandchild Ruairi, sisters Fiona, Tracey and Aisling, and brother Kieran.
