Henry Brothers have begun work on Loughborough University Student Village Data Hub
Magherafelt contractor Henry Brothers has started construction on an energy and data hub for an English University.
The project will provide Loughborough University's student village with a district heating and hot water scheme.
Loughborough University is in the English Midlands, located between Derby and Leicester.
Managing director of Henry Brothers Construction, Ian Taylor, said he is excited to get to work on the project.
“Over several years we have built a strong and successful partnership with Loughborough University, helping the university to upgrade and create new facilities. We are excited to have now started on site to build a new energy and data hub for the student village.”
The project will cost £3.25m and will be housed in a single story building in the centre of the university's student village.
Work will be carried out in phases while students are not living in the village with construction expected to be completed in September 2023.
Henry Brothers has delivered several projects for the college already including a £30m refurbishment of a pair of buildings on the campus. It also built a £17m STEMlab and is currently on site building a four-storey car park.
The Data and Energy hub was designed by David Morely Architects. Other members of the team include structural engineer Ridge & Partners, M&E consultants Axis and FPCR landscape architects.
