The late Frankie Clifford, who passed away on Tuesday.
Derry City FC has led tributes to one of its ‘life-long’ fans who passed away earlier this week.
Francis (Frankie) Clifford died peacefully at his Rinmore Drive home on Tuesday, April 7.
A well-known character in the Creggan area, Mr Clifford was a passionate Derry City fan.
Paying tribute to the 78 year-old, a spokesperson for the club said they were ‘deeply saddened’ to learn of his passing.
“The Creggan man was an ever-present at the Brandywell during the Irish League era from the late 1960's onwards.
“He was passionate in support of his hometown club and many a referee, linesman and opposing player felt the wrath of his vocal support.”

Despite suffering from ill health for many years, Mr Clifford (pictured above, left) didn’t let it stand in his way.
“Ill-health rarely prevented Frankie from following his beloved Candystripes although it was to have a bearing in recent seasons,” continued the Derry City FC statement.
“He was a Derry City fan in every sense of the word and his death will be sorely felt on the Brandywell terraces.
“Our condolences to the entire network of family and friends.
“May Frankie Rest in Peace.”
Many of Frankie’s former neighbours in Creggan also paid tribute.
“Frankie, synonymous with Creggan and a bigger and better man than most, God rest him,” one man said.
Another added: “Frankie is a true legend of Creggan. Everyone knew him and were very fond of him.”
Others paid tribute to Frankie’s bravery while battling ill health over the years.
“Rest in peace gallant warrior,” read an online post. “Happy man in Heaven - RIP Frankie.”
A talented singer, who enjoyed entertaining in local bars, Frankie was also remembered for his songs - a favourite of which was Dickie Rock’s ‘Candy Store’.
“Many a back-to-back in the Telstar with Frankie, a legend from Creggan,” fondly recalled one man.
“A fine singer,” added another.

Frankie’s (pictured above, centre) funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday, April 10, at 10am with Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Creggan. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.
He is survived by his siblings Mary-Ellen, Tommy, Lily, John, Sally and predeceased by his brother Jimmy.
A death notice stated that his death is ‘deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his much loved nieces, nephews, wider family circle and friends’.
