Causeway Council reminds residents to act responsibly to tackle dog fouling and littering

Council is reminding dog owners to dispose of their pet's waste properly.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is reminding residents across the Borough to clean up after their pets, dispose of dog waste properly and help keep Causeway Coast and Glens litter free.
Dog fouling continues to have a negative impact on residential communities, green spaces and streets throughout Causeway Coast and Glens.
Council is urging all dog owners to act responsibly and ensure that dog waste is lifted immediately and disposed of in the correct manner.
Once bagged, dog waste can be placed in any bin within the Borough, making it quick and convenient for owners to dispose of it responsibly.
Littering such as discarded food packaging, take away containers, and cigarette ends also makes the areas we all live in unsightly and Council Officers would encourage members of the public to use the bins provided when out and about, or alternatively bring your rubbish home to dispose of correctly.
Littering, including dog fouling, is an offence and may result in enforcement action. The issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice for littering carries a penalty of £200.
As we continue to work with local communities via the LitterSmart initiative to promote responsible behaviour and protect the cleanliness of towns, villages and rural areas across the Borough, residents are encouraged to report incidents of dog fouling to Council’s Environmental Health team.
