The swimming pool and hall at Greenvale Leisure Centre in Magherafelt has reopened following essential refurbishment works to its viewing gallery.

The pool hall (and health suite) was temporarily closed on Monday, October 13 to allow these vital works to be carried out safely, with the aim of ensuring the public viewing gallery is secure for unsupervised access.

The significant investment in a new viewing gallery is part of a seven-year capital programme delivered by the Council in its leisure facilities throughout the district, an investment which puts into practice the Council’s commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles and improving access to high quality fitness solutions.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Frances Burton, said: “We are pleased to announce that the swimming pool hall at Greenvale Leisure Centre has now reopened. The refurbishment work was essential to safeguard users of the viewing gallery, and we thank everyone for their patience during this short closure.”

Over the coming weeks, customers on the Centre’s Swimming Lesson programme will be contacted to make arrangements for the next block of lessons which will resume in January for a new term, along with the clubs and groups with recurring pool bookings.

The renovations will continue at Greenvale Leisure Centre in the new year when the outside façade of the building will receive a facelift.
