A festival which was held in memory of a young Draperstown girl who died tragically last year has raised more than £18,000 for two worthy charities.

Festival 4 Fíanna was organised in memory of the late Fíanna Harkin and took place at Ballinascreen GAC in June.

The event was supported by other GAA clubs from across County Derry and culminated in a colour run.

Four year-old Fíanna passed away following an accident in June 2024 and the festival showed that she will never be forgotten.

Recently Fíanna's proud mum Karen Harkin and her older sister Shannon met with representatives from Air Ambulance Northern Ireland and S.T.E.P.S - the two amazing charities they chose to support in their beautiful daughter and sister's memory.

Each charity was presented a cheque of £9,100 – funds raised over the course of the weekend festival.

We are so proud and incredibly grateful to everyone who donated and helped make this fundraiser happen in memory of our Fíanna. It’s taken us a wee while to get around to getting the photos done, as this was such a hard and emotional final step with the Festival 4 Fíanna,” Karen said.

Also in attendance at the presentation was representatives from Ballinascreen GAC, St. Colm's High School, Draperstown and The Festival 4 Fíanna Team, each of whom played a huge part in making the event such a success.

Fíanna’s wee light continues to shine through the love and support of our amazing community,” added Karen.
