Vote for your Sporting Champions in Mid Ulster

Chair of the Council, Councillor Frances Burton.

It's time to highlight our best sportspeople again at the Mid Ulster District Council Sports Awards 2025, and nominations are now open.

The prestigious awards aim to recognise the wealth of sporting talent of individuals and teams from local clubs, schools or sporting organisations who reside or are based in the Mid Ulster area.

Organised by Mid Ulster District Council, the sports awards aim to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in the local sports community and will acknowledge the outstanding contribution of coaches and volunteers who help build on the district's reputation for sporting excellence.

The Sports Awards will also celebrate and champion people with disabilities in sports. The awards will highlight the wide-ranging levels and variety of sports that are delivered in the district, which makes the sporting world a more diverse and inclusive place.

The awards evening will take place at a ceremony held at the Burnavon, Cookstown, on Thursday, November 20.

Speaking at the launch, Chair of the Council, Councillor Frances Burton, said: “As we enter the second year of the Mid Ulster Sports Awards, it is wonderful to see this event becoming an established highlight in our calendar. These awards are about more than trophies – they are about recognising the passion, dedication and determination of athletes, coaches, volunteers and clubs across our district. Sport has the power to bring people together, to build confidence, and to showcase the very best of our community.

"I encourage everyone to take part by nominating those individuals and teams whose achievements, commitment, and spirit truly deserve to be celebrated. Together, we can continue to shine a spotlight on the remarkable sporting talent and the invaluable support behind it that makes Mid Ulster proud."

Nomination categories are now open and will feature a variety of categories encompassing a wide range of sports.
