Throughout October, Positive Ageing Month will once again celebrate the invaluable contribution that Mid Ulster’s older citizens make to their local communities. With a wide-ranging programme of activities – from online sessions to in-person events – there’s something to suit every interest and ability.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Frances Burton, welcomed this year’s programme, saying: "Positive Ageing Month is about recognising the experience, skills, and wisdom that older people bring to our communities, while also providing opportunities for connection, learning and fun. These events encourage people to stay active, try something new, and enjoy the company of others. It’s about ensuring that everyone feels included, supported, and valued."
The month-long celebration begins on International Day of Older Persons, which is on Wednesday, October 1.
The Mid Ulster-based activities include a host of low-cost and free sessions – from fitness classes that promote strength, balance and wellbeing, to creative workshops that inspire and connect, and practical online sessions that offer advice on financial planning and navigating digital changes.
Whether it’s exploring new skills, meeting new people, or simply enjoying time together, Positive Ageing Month offers something for everyone.
Mid Ulster District Council invites all older residents to join in the celebrations and take part in this year’s programme of events.
