New reporter Kathryn Ní Mhaoláin.
Popular TG4 programme Nuacht Cúla4 has returned for its third season and now features a familiar face from County Derry.
Among the new team members this season is reporter, Kathryn Ní Mhaoláin, from Carn Tóchair, who now lives in Belfast.
Kathryn attended St John’s Primary School, Swatragh, and St Patrick’s College, Maghera before going on to study Mathematics at Queen’s University Belfast. She later completed a Master’s degree in Translation Studies at Ulster University. Deeply passionate about the Irish language and about her home place, Carn Tóchair, Kathryn brings strong local pride and enthusiasm to her new role.
Outside of journalism, Kathryn has a great love for music. She plays guitar, regularly takes part in competitions such as Scór and the Fleadh, and is often invited to perform Amhrán na bhFiann at games including at Croke Park. She also enjoys travelling, having spent a year living in Spain, and she adores her dog, Benji, who she loves to walk and play with.
Nuacht Cúla4 continues to provide engaging, relevant and accessible news for younger audiences, helping to inform and inspire the next generation of Irish speakers.
Catch the news programme for young people at 1:30pm and again at 5:30pm every week from Tuesday to Friday.
