Patrick (Paddy) Gray died peacefully at his home in Corick, Draperstown on Tuesday, August 5 surrounded by his loving family.
The father-of-12, pre-deceased by his wife Agnes, will be laid to rest tomorrow (Friday, August 8) following 11am Requiem Mass in St Columba's Church, Straw, Draperstown.
Paddy was well known throughout the area as a singer, farmer and charity fundraiser.
A tribute posted on Cormac Ó Ceallaigh CCÉ’s Facebook page read: “Today we remember a gentleman who gave so much of himself to our community and especially to our traditional Irish music group. A man of stories, songs, and many a tall tale — always there with a kind word, a song in his heart, and wisdom to share.
“He wore many hats, but none more magical than the red one each Christmas, listening patiently as countless little voices shared their hopes and dreams. He brought joy, warmth, and laughter wherever he went.
“We are saddened at his passing but so grateful for the memories he leaves behind. A fountain of knowledge, a great character, and above all, a truly lovely man.
“Sorely missed, fondly remembered, and forever in our hearts. We especially send our thoughts and prayers to John, Bernie, Áine, Eleanoir and the entire Gray family at this sad time
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
As Mr Gray’s death was announced, other tributes flowed in on social media.
One read: “Thinking of you all at this time. Paddy was a true gent, always a chat and a true friend to all. Rest in Peace. Paddy will add his voice to all the songs in heaven.”
Another person added: “Never seen this gentleman without a smile on his face, he truly was one of the best. May Paddy Gray rest in eternal peace.”
