Seven people treated by paramedics following accidental fire at business premises near Toome

The fire was reported to NIFRS just before 9am this morning (Thursday)

The blaze broke out on the Deerpark Road this morning.

Seven people were treated by paramedics following an accidental fire which broke out at commercial premises near Toomebridge this morning.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were called to the business at Deerpark Road at 8.56am following a report of a fire.

Two appliances from Magherafelt Fire Station and one appliance from Maghera Fire Station attended the incident.

A NIFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial premises on Deerpark Road.  

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and one jet to extinguish the fire. 

“Seven casualties were left in the care of NIAS. 

“The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental ignition. 

“The incident was dealt with by 11.18am.”
