A woman who is accused of stealing more than £60,000 from a County Derry medical practice has appeared before Limavady Magistrates’ Court.
Seainin Cutter, whose address was given in court as Oak Grove, Greysteel, appeared before a preliminary enquiry this morning (Wednesday) charged with 13 counts of fraud by abuse of position.
The charges are alleged to have been committed while Cutter occupied a position in which she was expected to safeguard, or not act against, the financial interests of the partners of Roe Family Medical Practice in Limavady.
Cutter is accused of presenting invoices for various amounts with her bank details on them on various dates between February 1 2023 and May 9 2023.
The alleged fraud amounts to a total of £63,066.83.
The 27 year-old is further charged with possession of articles in connection with fraud, namely fake email accounts and email conversations, for use in the course of or in connection with a fraud between February 1 2023 and May 18 2023.
She is also charged with dishonestly making a false representation, namely presenting for payment inflated timesheet claims between February 1 2023 and May 19 2023.
Cutter is also charged with forging an instrument, namely a timesheet purporting to contain a doctor’s signature between the same dates.
During the hearing, Cutter declined to give evidence or call witnesses.
District Judge Peter King released Cutter on £500 bail to reside at the address in Greysteel.
The accused is due to return for trial at Antrim Crown Court on June 4.
