Mid Ulster IPSC to host film screening and Q&A: 'Censoring Palestine'

The screening will document the case of the Filton 18.

The Mid Ulster Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (MUIPSC) will host a film screening and Q&A session in County Derry on Friday, May 9, to 'expose the UK government’s repression of solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for freedom and dignity'.

The event, which takes place in Bellaghy GAA Clubrooms, will feature a screening of a film documenting the case of the Filton 18 — a group of activists, including an activist with ties to Ballymena, who were unjustly imprisoned after dismantling drones at a factory owned by Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer.
A spokesperson for Mid Ulster IPSC said: "These drones are used by the Israeli military to surveil and kill Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

"Despite their peaceful action, the activists were detained under the Terrorism Act and held without charge before being remanded for months. Legal experts, including four UN Special Rapporteurs, have condemned the UK government’s attempt to link their case to terrorism as baseless.
"This documentary exposes the most outrageous attack on free speech in modern times as speaking out is met with arrests, censorship and persecution. It reveals the truth about the genocide in Palestine that mainstream media won’t show you. Featuring Ken Loach, Alexei Sayle, Jackie Walker, Roger Waters, Sarah Wilkinson, Peter Oborne and many more."

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with guest speakers.

The spokesperson continued: "The UK continues to export arms to Israel despite its ongoing genocide in Gaza, which has killed well over 60,000 Palestinians, in direct violation of international law. The Mid Ulster IPSC calls on people of conscience to stand with the Filton 18 and demand an end to British complicity in Israel’s crimes."
The event runs from 7.30pm to 10pm.
