A memorial service is to be held for Stephen Harper from Dungiven following his recent unexpected passing.

Stephen was a retired sub-postmaster and engineer and his family owned the former post office in the town of Dungiven for many years.

The husband and father passed away suddenly at Mount Tongariro in New Zealand.

According to his death notice, Stephen was a "dog and duck-whisperer, horse-dad, chicken-wrangler, fire-starter, tree-chopper, builder and fixer of everything."

Stephen's memorial service will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, April 9 at Dungiven Parish Church. It will be a family service and will be open to anyone who knew him and wishes to celebrate his life.
